Marina Pez Vela, Costa Rica

Marina Pez Vela is now open but is still in the proces of construction, 100 of the planned 300 berths are now in place and the dockyard will be up and running mid to late 2012. The marina offers good shelter, modern facilities and is a base for sport fishing.

Marina Pez Vela will also provide dry rack storage and forklift operation for boats up to 35 feet, 120 boats will be stored in four levels under cover. With notice the staff will have your boat launched in the water, cleaned, fueled, and ready. The Boatyard, expected to be completed in 2012, will have hauling capacities of up to 130’ and will have both 75-ton and 200-ton travel lifts.

There is a small shop on site and the town of Quepos is about a 10 minute walk to the south of the marina. Marina Pez Vela will also house up to 150,000 square feet of retail services for nautical supplies including bait and tackle, deli, ice, marine parts and supplies as well as numerous on-site restaurants, gift stores, boutiques and galleries.

There are also plans for nearly 200 residential units consisting of 1,2 and 3 bedrooms.

The Entrance

Marina Plan

Visiting Yachts Upon your initial entry into the country, you will receive a Temporary Permit for your boat, called the Certificado de Importación Temporal from the Ministry of Finance and Customs (in Spanish, Ministerio de Hacienda y Aduana). This permit is valid for three months. Renewals should be discussed with the marina office prior to the expiration date.

Local law prohibits non-Costa Rican flagged boats from operating as commercial charters. Please be aware that government authorities are very strict in this regard, and officials make regular inspections of Los Sueños Marina.
