Marinas in Grenada
Grenada is a tropical island along with six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines. The official language is English, but a local Patois is also spoken. The island has a population of just over 110,000 people which is swollen by the tourists that visit the island. The official currency is the East Caribbean Dollar, though the American dollar is widely accepted.
The island of Grenada is a rolling, mountainous island, covered with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical flowers. The coast has stunning beaches, and is dotted with picturesque towns, this verdant island has long been a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and cocoa.
In the interior of this volcanic island are cascading rivers and waterfalls, lush rainforests, and beautiful mountain lakes. The capital and chief port is St. George's. Its horseshoe-shaped harbour with its marinas is surrounded by a pastel coloured dockside warehouses and the red-tiled roofs of traditional shops and homes. The highest point of the island is Mount St. Catherine at a little over 840 metres.
Grenadais a great sailing destination for sailing vacations and it is an area of the Caribbean not to be missed if you are cruising. Visitors can charter a crewed yacht while visiting the island, rent a bare boat, or take courses leading up to the American sailing certification. For those looking to relax, while spending time out on the water, dolphin and whale watching cruises, as well as sailing trips to the outer islands, can be arranged.
