Marinas in Costa del Sol
The Costa del Sol ("Sun Coast" or, literally, "Coast of the Sun") is a region of southern Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, comprising the coastal towns and communities along the Mediterranean coastline of the Málaga province. The Costa del Sol is situated between two lesser known costas: Costa de la Luz and Costa Calida. Formerly made up only of a series of small, quiet fishing settlements, the region has been completely transformed during the latter part of the 20th century into a tourist destination of world renown
The western part was overrun by the Vandals early in the 5th century. From the Vandals the region took the name Vandalusia, which, in later centuries, was corrupted into Andalusia. After the vandals came the Visigoths and then the Saracen and Moor civilizations and much of this influence can still be seen today
The Costa del Sol is a popular tourist region that welcomes millions of people annually, who mostly arrive at Malaga airport and head to one of the many resorts located along this stretch of coastline from Gibraltar in the west to Nerja in the east.
Miles of magnificent beaches cater for sun seekers, watersports enthusiasts, naturists and celebrity spotters. The rich and famous are to be found in swanky Puerto Banus marina on their multi-million pound yachts. Lesser mortals pack the beaches and nightclubs of torrid Torremolinos a few miles along the coast.
Comunication is good along the coast with the Mediterranean motorway, the railway system and airports in Malaga, Almeria and Gibraltar. Many marinas on the coast get very crowded during the peak season so calling ahead is advisable check our marina guide for contact details
