Marinas in Costa Brava
Situated in the north east corner of Spain the Costa Brava, which means wild or rugged coast, stretches from the French border down to the port of Blanes about 60 kilometres north of Barcelona.
The Costa Brava is one of the most well known Costas in Spain. It was originally promoted in the 1950's to northern Europeans and underwent massive development to cater to the tourists. Saying this although a major part of the area is designed for the sun seeking tourist, the Costa Brava has, even to this day, many relatively unspoilt resorts along with maritime and inland nature reserves.Girona (Gerona, in Spanish) is a province of north-eastern Spain, in the northern part of the autonomous community of Catalonia. It is bordered by the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, and by France and the Mediterranean Sea.
This stretch of coast has many well run and safe marinas which are often also the home of the local fishing fleet meaning fresh fish can be bought direct from the quay. Many marinas on the coast get very crowded during te peak season so calling ahead is advisable
