Marinas in UK East Coast
The East Coast of England comprises of 4 of the nine regions of England namely, the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands, and the South East of England. The whole coastline borders on to the North Sea. The East coast stretches down from the border with Scotland to around the Thames Estuary.
The northern half of the coast offers good sailing and modern marinas, some in ancient ports, but an eye on the weather forecast is always advisable as the north sea can be a wild place in storms.
The southern half of the coast provides the opportunity to sail to the continent with France, Belgium and Holland within a days sail. The main concern with this area is the density of the commercial traffic particularly as you approach the Strait of Dover
The Thames Estuary opens up the opportunity to sail up the River Thames to the Capital London and beyond. Many of the rivers marinas are reasonably priced compared to stays in Hotels.
