Puerto Radazul marina is situated at the base of a cliff which has a zigzag road that leads down the marina. Along the road and against the cliff are numerous tall apartment blocks. This is a purpose-built private marina mainly for local residents rented on a long term basis leaving only a few berths for visiting yachts.

There is little here apart from facilities to provide for the residents daily needs. With the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz, just 9km away this is where everything can be found for both the resident and the yachtsman.

There is a large supermarket that provides most things a short walk up the steep hill. There is also a pharmacy but all other medical needs are to be found in the capital. There is a bus service that runs to Santa Cruz, and car hire/taxis can be arranged through the marina office.

There is a nautical club in the marina but it is run as a social club and doesn't usually allow visitors. The staff in the marina are friendly and helpful and will assist in providing hauling off lines from the harbour wall. The island has many yacht charter companies and chartering a boat is a popular holiday charter companies can be found in the marinas in the capital Santa Cruz.

The Approach

From seaward the most identifiable landmarks are the twin towers of the power station that belch out plumes of smoke. The marina is at the base of a high cliff with a road and apartment blocks zigzagging down to it. At the north end of the marina is the yacht club with its two "control type" towers which can be identified as you close the coast. There is a 2knt speed limit approaching and at the marina entrance

The Entrance

The westerly facing entrance is quite narrow but straightforward. Round the breakwater tightly to avoid drifting over towards the inner breakwater or the coast but keep a close watch for vessels departing. The reception berth is on the port side by the fuel pumps. Visiting yachts are usually berthed opposite here along the harbour wall. It may be necessary to lay hauling off lines but the friendly staff will provide help. The lines are led to fixed chain in the middle of the entrance

Formalities

Report with the usual papers to the marina office in the control tower at the reception area. Office hours 0900 - 1900 daily. If the marina office is closed then it may be best to go to the berth mention above.
