France
France or more correctly the French Republic (République Française) is bounded by Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany to the north east and by Germany Switzerland and Italy to the south east; To the south is the Mediterranean Sea, and Spain. The west coast is in the Bay of Biscay, an eastern part of the Atlantic while the north coast is separated from Britain by the English Channel, the Dover Strait and the North Sea.
Metropolitan France including Corsica is divided into 22 regions which are then subdivided into 96 departments.
The largest city and the capital is Paris. The national language is French, though there are regional languages such Breton in Brittany, Basque and Catalan spoken in the Pyrenees and Flemish in Flanders. The official currency is the Euro.
Mainland France is UT +1 (GMT+1) with the summer time of UT+2 between the end March and the end of October.
