United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy which is a member of the European Union and the Commonwealth of Nations. The UK lies entirely within the British Isles with Great Britain being the largest of the British Isles. The United Kingdom comprises of

The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are direct dependencies of the British Crown though are not part of the United Kingdom. The only land boarder is between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Despite this communication with the rest of Europe and internationally are good with many international airports and ferries across the North Sea, English Channel and the Irish Sea. There is also a high speed rail link by tunnel under the English Channel.
The capital is London in the south east of England. Although the UK is a member of the EU it still has Sterling as its currency with 1 Pound (£) equal to 100 pence. English is the official language though this has many regional dialects. Wales has its own language though English is widely spoken; most road signs etc. are in both languages.
Entry into the country from other EU countries requires just a passport usually with an poen boarder policy between member states being in place. Entry from other countries from outside the EU varies and further information can be found from the Home Office
